Most of you probably don't even know what this is! I actually purchased this from the artist years ago at the Pasadena Arts & Craft Show which used to come there several times a year. This artist would be there pretty regularly and I loved just looking at the thinks she painted on! Sometimes is was a round saw blade, an old rusted bucket, metal coffee mug, Ox yoke, etc. This piece is an old Prince Albert can which you can see on the bottom picture. This artist did different style of tole painting. I chose this traditional Dutch style tole painting. This is actually something we always had hanging by our back door when I was growing up. This is for the wooden matches that used to come in a box that slid open and the side of the box was the flint striker. I kept this hanging by our fire place for years when we had a fire place that burned real wood. Matched fit in here perfectly. The one we had at home was for when we took the trash out to the burning barrel - we always knew where the batches were.
Notice this has the leather strap for hanging it up. This piece measures 6 X 3 X 3/4 inches. Tin and very lightweight.
